Connect Claude to Fine Structure
One approval links Claude to your Fine Structure account. A conversation can then build a complete app, publish it, connect a custom domain, and leave an agent running behind it.
- MCP connector: in claude.ai open Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector and paste https://finestructure.ai/api/mcp, then approve. No API keys.
- Claude Code plugin, open source under MIT at github.com/finestructure-ai/claude-plugin, adding deploy, status and domain commands.
- Around 70 tools: app generation, file edits with saved-version rollback, entities and records, publishing, domains with automatic TLS, access policies, traffic analytics, and scheduled AI agents.
- Free tier, no credit card. Access is revocable at any time from the MCP tokens panel.
Guides: deploy from Claude Code and connecting Claude with MCP.
Other platforms: connect Fine Structure to any AI.
Before you start
- A Fine Structure account. The free tier is enough and no credit card is required.
- A Claude account. Anthropic documents custom remote MCP connectors on free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, with free accounts limited to one custom connector.
- On Team and Enterprise, an organization Owner has to add the connector before members can connect to it.
- For the Claude Code steps, the Claude Code CLI installed and signed in.
Step by step
- Open claude.ai and sign in. A free Claude account is enough.
- Open claude.ai/settings/connectors, or go to Settings and then Connectors.
- Choose Browse connectors, search for Fine Structure, and click Connect.
- Sign in with your Fine Structure account and approve the consent screen. There is no API key, no Client ID and no Client Secret to fill in.
- In the Claude desktop app it is the same account and the same list: open Settings, then Connectors, find Fine Structure and click Connect.
- If Fine Structure is not in the connector list, choose Add custom connector and paste https://finestructure.ai/api/mcp as the remote MCP server URL, leave Advanced settings empty, click Add, then Connect and approve.
- Team and Enterprise: an Owner adds it first under Organization settings > Connectors > Add > Custom > Web with the same URL. Members then open Connectors and click Connect.
- For Claude Code, run in a terminal: claude mcp add --transport http finestructure https://finestructure.ai/api/mcp
- Inside Claude Code, run /mcp and complete the authentication prompt for the finestructure server.
- Check it worked: ask in the chat to list your Fine Structure apps, or run claude mcp list, which should show finestructure as Connected rather than Needs authentication.
- Optional, for the shortcut commands: run /plugin marketplace add finestructure-ai/claude-plugin then /plugin install finestructure@finestructure

What to watch out for
- Fine Structure is listed in Anthropic's connector directory as a Community connector. It is listed, not verified or official, and we do not claim otherwise.
- In Claude Code, a JSON entry with a url but no type is treated as a misconfiguration and skipped, so keep "type": "http" in the snippet above. The value "streamable-http" is accepted as an alias for "http".
- claude mcp add writes to the local scope by default. Add --scope user for every project, or --scope project to commit it to .mcp.json for your team.
- The Claude Code plugin at github.com/finestructure-ai/claude-plugin is MIT licensed and optional. It adds /deploy to ship the current project, /fs-status for app status, live links and recent runtime errors, and /fs-domain example.com to attach a domain with DNS verification and TLS.
- If you prefer a fixed credential over OAuth, Claude's custom connector dialog also has a Request headers section, and you can paste a scoped token from the Studio MCP Server tab as an Authorization Bearer value.
Questions people ask
Do I need to fill in the OAuth Client ID and Client Secret under Advanced settings?
No. Those fields exist for servers that issue static credentials. Fine Structure supports dynamic client registration, so leaving them empty is correct and the sign in will still work.
Does the connector work in the Claude desktop app as well as the browser?
Yes. Anthropic documents custom remote MCP connectors on Claude, Cowork and Claude Desktop, and the connector you add once appears across them on the same account.
Do I need the plugin to deploy from Claude Code?
No. The MCP server already exposes publishing and domain tools, so you can just ask. The plugin only wraps common jobs in the /deploy, /fs-status and /fs-domain commands so you do not have to describe them each time.
